Last month New Zealand’s largest heavy truck company, Scania, welcomed their first electric trucks to Aotearoa. These battery electric vehicles (BEVs) weigh in at 29 tonnes and are fitted with up to 9 batteries. Compatible with all generic charging systems and the ability to travel up to 250 km making these vehicles a more sustainable solution for long and short haul journeys.
Managing Director Rafael Alvarenga says, “Acquiring an electric truck is not just an investment in the customer’s fleet, but also in their brand and market. An electric truck enables the customer to stay ahead of the competition, learn about infrastructural challenges and start adapting for the future.”
