Highlight of the month: Kia EV6

Recently we interviewed a returning client about their latest purchase using funding provided by PFL. The main motivation for this client was to reduce their overall emissions by replacing a previously owned Skoda station wagon (petrol vehicle) with a more sustainable electric vehicle.

As a busy property valuer, traveling was a large part of the job, so when considering an EV it was imperative that he could get from A to B with as little interruption as possible. Most driving is local and he occasionally travels out of town so only having to stop once for a quick charge was essential. When it came to buying, it was also preferred that the vehicle was brand new but under the $80,000 threshold so that the client could apply for the Government clean car rebate of $8,650. This had had also been a huge driver for the decision to buy electric.

In September 2022 the client went ahead and applied for funding through PFL before purchasing a brand-new slick, Aurora black pearl KIA EV6 Long Range. The Kia EV6 is the brand’s first-ever dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) with a 528km range (77.4kwh battery) which after 3 months of use and 7000kms travelled , generally only needs charging every 5-6 days making it the perfect companion for getting from A to B. In July, it was also featured on the AA Top 10 BEVs for 2022 in New Zealand (see table below).

PFL were proud be able to fund another EV, helping New Zealand eventually transition to electric vehicles and phase out petrol/diesel. The transaction showcases another step in the right direction as we see a pivotal shift in the electric vehicle market and something we are looking to boost further in 2023.
